The secret to giving yourself a 5 minute pedicure

The secret is to combine this 5 minute pedicure with your usual bathroom routine; either in the morning getting ready for work, or getting ready for a hot date!

You need just seven items to get your feet looking sandal perfect, and only five extra minutes added to your daily routine.

What you need, in order of use (!):

Cuticle oil (baby oil will do)

Nail clippers

Emery board

A cuticle stick

Exfoliating scrub

Foot cream or Lotion

Nail polish

First, apply cuticle oil or baby oil to your cuticles. Do this several minutes before you get in the shower and let it soften the cuticles.
Then, give your nails a trim with the nail clippers; always cut straight across the nail making sure each toenail has a rounded, even shape.  Soften the shape by filing the edges with an emery board, even if you have in-grown toenails.

If you’re ready, leap into the shower clutching your cuticle stick (this is also called an orange stick). Push back the cuticles on each toenail making sure the cuticles are rounded and neat for that professional look.

And while you’re in the shower, use an exfoliating scrub on your feet and calves for soft, smooth skin. Rub the scrub in a circular motion and pay extra attention to calluses or rough spots. Rinse thoroughly.

Dry yourself off and apply a foot cream or a rich body lotion to your feet and calves. Moisturizing is essential  for the smooth, healthy look to skin, and to enhance the look of your pedicure.

You’re ready to finish your pedicure.  A coat of clear polish might be all you need and of course, there is a bonus to clear polish – you won’t notice any smudges or smears if you can’t take time over it’s application!

If you have the time for colour, apply a clear base coat, two coats of colour, and one clear topcoat. If you’re good with a brush, you can do this in record time – it just requires a little practice. If you don’t have enough time to let the polish dry completely, slip on a pair of flip_flops and put your sexy sandals (or peep toes) in your bag ready to put on when you arrive at your destination.

NOTE: If you are attending a special function and have very dry feet, it may be a good idea to prepare the night before. Soak your feet, use a scrub, apply a foot cream (Lanolin is good), and wear socks to bed. There are even special socks you can wear to ensure maximum moisturisation!

I have not checked in here for a few months as I thought it was getting boring, but the last several posts are really really great quality so I guess I’ll add you back to my daily favorites. You deserve it my friend…
